Cave Site arose from the working process Landscaping the Body, developed with Simone Gisela Weber. The research explored perceived divisions between nature and culture, and the human tendency to understand ourselves as permanent and separate from the natural world. Cave Site continued this inquiry through scores and cards, alongside paper collages, drawings and paintings that became part of the installation-performance.

The cards documented and archived states, sensations and encounters with different environments and sites throughout the working period. During the residency, I worked closely with the presentation site, Kabidi Cave, part of the old mine in Outokumpu, developing paintings, sound, movement material and choreographic scores in response to the space. I experimented with imagining and embodying other creatures and perspectives, using these practices to destabilise the human point of view and give up some control over how the body moves and perceives.

The research culminated in a performative installation combining the paintings, sound and movement material developed during the residency. The work approached dance as an expanded practice, using the body as a site for shifting perspectives and questioning human-centred ways of perceiving and relating to the environment.
