Zines have been part of my practice for years, and I keep returning to them. Different circumstances mean different access to tools and time, and zines feel easy in a way other forms don't always allow.
The format lets me collect, combine and collage visual material freely, without needing it to resolve into one thing. It's a concentrated form, text and image together, where I can make connections and build them across the pages. I like to work my own poetry into them in some form, sometimes handwritten, sometimes typed. Each zine becomes its own small cosmos, a language specific to a certain moment, theme, idea, or state of being in time. Below are three examples of how I've worked with the medium.
