Joma Richter (they/she) is a dancer and interdisciplinary artist based in Helsinki, originally from Berlin, working across performance and visual art.

Central to their practice is an inquiry into the boundaries of identity and the human animal in relation to its unstable and unpredictable surroundings. Their tools are association, abstraction, and absurdity, ways of asking how a gesture or an object comes to mean something, and where that meaning stops belonging only to it. Richter combines autobiographical and documentary material with fiction, letting lived experience, including caregiving and the sensorial crafting of objects, sit alongside invention rather than announce itself as subject matter. Their work is driven by an experimental, playful approach that connects beings, objects, and environments through emotional intensity, embodied attention, and imaginative speculation.
